EAA 838 Chapter Bylaws

The Young Eagles program began in July 1992 to motivate young people to get more involved in aviation. It is sponsored by the EAA Aviation Foundation with a goal of 1,000,000 Young Eagles by the year 2003. To become a Young Eagle, you must participate in a 1 hour mini ground school followed by a demonstration flight. You will then receive a completion certificate and your name will be entered into the World’s Largest Logbook.

Our Chapter 838 Young Eagles program occurs on the second Saturday of the month. The class begins promptly at 9:00 am and the program is usually completed by noon, weather permitting. The program does not run December-February to give our pilots and staff a well-deserved break. A parent or legal guardian is required to fill out a registration form upon arrival.  If the child's parent/guardian will not be present during the event, the registration form can be filled out and signed prior to the event (complete both sides! download here). If you have any questions, contact the Young Eagles Coordinator at tschuyler@ymail.com. Parents are welcome to observe the class and meet the pilots prior to the flight.
